Enola Holmes

A Letter from Holmes

On social, we teased that Enola needed help deciphering a curious code, which led to over 7,000 junior detectives ready to hop on the case. Each of them received a mailed letter from Enola asking them to decipher a message she found using the cipher provided.

But one puzzle would be too simple for a Holmes, so readers were also asked to find a bit.ly link hidden in the first letter of each line, which turned into a third puzzle for me to figure out how to include an “x” and random numbers in casual conversation. #xilften

The Art of Disguise

Once detectives proved their skills in decoding, they received their next mission: mastering the art of disguise! Each sleuth received free Enola Holmes paper doll downloads illustrated by the talented Kyle Hilton.

Digital Disguises

The Paper Dolls were a hit among fans, so we animated each element and uploaded them to Instagram via giphy so fans everywhere, like Millie Bobby Brown, and my cat, Catrick Swayze (AKA: Purrlock Holmes) can try them on!

Los Angeles Times & The xilften mirror

Secret messages in newspapers are a running theme in Enola Holmes, so we created a mini-newspaper/false cover that topped every Los Angeles Times across the country on premiere day. We created everything from the crossword puzzle, to the riddle, single-panel comics, the Victorian-era ads, and another message to decipher. Did you figure out why it’s called the Xilften Mirror? If not, there’s a hint in the title.

Check out my Minute Mysteries train riddle, and let me know if you can solve it!
